I've loved reading since I was a child and have dreamed of writing since grade school. I've been blessed to build a career around writing, and here I'd love to share writing tips with you.
Sit Down & Write!
Use this tipsheet to focus your efforts and jumpstart your writing project.
1. Most important: Sit down and write. Work hard. Have fun.
2. Write a "fat paragraph" summary of the purpose of your book. What do you want to say in your book — boiled down to a couple of sentences. Why this book now?
3. Decide who your audience is. Who are you writing the book for? Teens? Women? Fans of legal thrillers? Pick your audience.
4. Write something each day. You'll likely need at least sample chapters if you sell to an agent or publisher. For a novel, you'll probably need the complete manuscript. Many authors write in their "spare" time.
